Why This Pairing Works
A complete Wilson surround array around a 100-inch Sony BRAVIA, and a demonstration that a serious cinema does not require a dedicated blacked-out room.
Sabrina V handle the mains, with the WASAE centre channel and four Alida surrounds — all Wilson, all voiced to match, so a sound crossing the room does not change character on the way. Two JL Audio twelve-inch subwoofers cover the bottom.
The detail that makes the room interesting is the McIntosh C2800: a vacuum tube preamplifier sitting alongside the MX100 processor, feeding an MC462 on the mains. When the film finishes, the same loudspeakers become a two-channel system with a tube front end — not a surround system reluctantly playing music.
