Wilson Audio WASAE Center Channel

The WASAE Center is Wilson Audio's approachable centre channel — the work of the Wilson Audio Special Application Engineering team, the same group responsible for the LōKē subwoofer, whose brief is to carry Wilson's engineering into the applications the main line does not reach. Here that means a centre channel designed for ease of integration into any home audio setup, across the full breadth of the Wilson lineup.

The details are quietly serious. The adjustable spikes are not a convenience feature — they allow precise alignment of the drivers to the listener, which is Wilson's core discipline of aiming the transducers at the seat, applied at centre-channel scale. The Convergent Synergy tweeter ties its voice to the rest of the line, and at 88 dB sensitivity it is an easy load that unifies readily with Wilson loudspeakers from TuneTot to the reference towers, on amplification of almost any scale.

The application is the theater or multi-channel room where the mains are Wilsons and the centre needs to keep up without demanding the footprint or the budget of the Mezzo CSC — which is most Wilson theaters, honestly.

The demonstration is Tempe's Room 5: a WASAE Center between Wilson Sabrina V mains, with four Alida surrounds completing an all-Wilson, voice-matched array around a 100″ Sony BRAVIA — and a McIntosh C2800 vacuum tube preamplifier in the chain, so the same system plays serious two-channel music when the film ends. It is a working proof that a real Wilson theater does not require a dedicated, blacked-out room — and the WASAE Center is a large part of why it works.
