Product Details
The McIntosh C2800 is McIntosh’s current reference-tier single-chassis vacuum tube preamplifier — crafted for listeners who demand precision, clarity, and musical depth, and engineered as the single-chassis successor to the legendary two-chassis C1100. For a McIntosh system built around a tube signal path, the C2800 is the natural preamplifier answer, and delivers the same fundamental McIntosh tube-preamp engineering as the C1100 lineage in a single-box form factor.
Vacuum tube gain stages carry the McIntosh tube preamplification character that has defined the brand’s tube signal path for decades. Twelve analog inputs (balanced and unbalanced, plus MM and MC phono) provide the connectivity a reference-tier system requires. Left and right channels are electrically and mechanically isolated for dual-mono operation. Balanced and unbalanced output pairs feed any McIntosh power amplifier, and the headphone stage with HXD Crossfeed Director provides the same headphone functionality as the reference C12000.
At LMC, the C2800 sits in the Tempe Room 5 system — driving the McIntosh MC462 power amplifier which in turn drives the Wilson Sabrina V main pair, WATCH Anniversary center, and Alida surrounds around a 100-inch Sony BRAVIA. The tube-preamplifier-plus-solid-state-power-amplifier combination is the McIntosh signature configuration — preserving the tonal warmth of vacuum tube preamplification while delivering the current control of solid-state amplification into demanding loudspeakers.
At $10,500 in current McIntosh pricing, the C2800 is available for audition at the Tempe showroom in the Room 5 configuration. Walk in during business hours or book ahead for a prepared listening session — the C2800-plus-MC462-plus-Sabrina V is the honest demonstration of what the tube-preamp signature of McIntosh amplification actually sounds like in a full multi-channel system.
