Description
The P4i pairs a planar magnetic thin-film driver with four 3 x 5-inch woofers in a 31.48-inch in-wall enclosure. The crossover point is 650 Hz, which is unusually low — it means the planar driver is responsible for everything above that, rather than handing off in the middle of the vocal range where the ear is most sensitive to a change in driver character.
The woofers are obround rather than circular: a flattened cylinder with parallel sides and hemispherical ends. That shape exists to keep the front baffle narrow, which is what preserves the even horizontal dispersion the design is built around.
It mounts vertically or horizontally, in a wall or a ceiling, with optional custom-length grilles. Because the crossover is passive and internal, one amplifier channel drives it — the practical difference between the Insight Series and the fully active Sage Series above it.
