Wisdom Audio Insight Series P2i

The P2i is the smallest of the Insight in-walls — one planar magnetic driver and two 3 x 5-inch woofers in a 19.44-inch enclosure — and it shares the 650 Hz crossover of the P4i above it, so the planar driver still carries everything above that point.

At 107 dB maximum output it is not the loudspeaker for the front three channels of a large cinema. It is the right one for surrounds in that room, and for a second system where the wall depth and the budget both have limits but the character of the planar driver should not change from room to room.

Timbre matching across an installation is the reason to specify it that way. A surround built from the same driver technology as the mains disappears in a pan; one built from a conventional cone and dome does not.
