Sonus faber’s statement — a four-tower system with dedicated subwoofers and outboard crossovers; the brand’s most ambitious build.

Product Details

Description

Suprema is the most ambitious project in Sonus faber's forty-year history — a four-column reference system marking the brand's 40th anniversary and defining a new ceiling for what a loudspeaker can achieve. The system pairs two main columns in the signature Sonus faber lute shape (originally introduced with Guarneri in 1993) with two subwoofers in Stradivari's elliptical form, all governed by an external Full Discrete Pure Analog Stereo/Mono active crossover.

Each main column is a 4.5-way system with ten drivers — eight front-firing (four dual-drive woofers, one mid-woofer, one Camelia midrange, one mid-tweeter, one super tweeter) and two back-firing for enhanced staging and dispersion. The Camelia midrange with cellulose pulp diaphragm, the treated silk dome mid-tweeter, and the treated silk dome super tweeter are three brand-new elements developed specifically for Suprema — the evolved 'Voice of Sonus faber' that has since flowed down into Amati Supreme and the Sonetto G2 collection. The two subwoofer columns each carry twin 380 mm carbon-fiber sandwich-cone drivers reaching down to 16 Hz, with their upper limit variable between 30 and 80 Hz at the electronic crossover.

The physical scale matches the ambition: each main column stands 1,905 mm tall at 110 kilograms, each subwoofer 1,451 mm at 105 kilograms, all ground-coupled through a decoupling system developed with IsoAcoustics. The front panels wear Poltrona Frau's Pelle Frau Impact Less leather — a chromium-free tanned leather from the Italian luxury furniture house — and the mid-high drivers load into an organically shaped internal chamber built from recycled cork, a first in loudspeaker construction.

Suprema is available in five standard finishes — Red, Graphite, Wengè, Walnut, and Red Violin (all high gloss) — each with Italian leather, carbon fiber, and solid aluminum details. An extensive personalization program extends every finish across the entire cabinet: wood, leather, and interior cabling can all be specified. Recommended amplifier power: 100W-700W undistorted for the main columns, 500W-2000W for the subwoofers.
