Sonus faber Amati G5

Amati G5 is the flagship of Sonus faber's Homage Collection — the fifth generation of a design that dates to the mid-1990s, paying tribute to Italian renaissance violin maker Nicolò Amati. It unites artistic form and musical function in a floorstanding loudspeaker that carries Sonus faber's core commitment: cutting-edge engineering delivered inside a cabinet that reads as sculpture.

The lute-shaped cabinet is handcrafted in Vicenza from nine layers of grain-matched wood, adorned with nine layers of fine lacquer — a woodworking discipline drawn directly from Sonus faber's tradition. The G5 refinement introduces a striking new midrange driver and woofer powered by advanced Neodymium magnets for precise midrange control, along with a redesigned woofer equipped with ultra-light voice coils for improved speed and power. The result: long-lasting, detailed sound without distortion, in a cabinet that pays homage to the artistry of Italian luthiery.

The 3.5-way system pairs a 28 mm DAD 'Arrow Point' tweeter and 150 mm neodymium midrange — the midrange in a sealed box featuring Intono technology — with two 220 mm Dual Drive Motor woofers in the vented-box Stealth Ultraflex system. Crossover points sit at 200, 270, and 2,200 Hz through a hand-soldered Phase Coherent Level 3 network of high-end custom capacitors and inductors, delivering the three-dimensional presentation Amati is known for. Sensitivity 91 dB, 28 Hz – 35 kHz frequency response, with recommended amplification of 50 to 450 watts.

Amati G5 is available in Graphite Wood, Wengè Wood, or Red Wood — each paired with Italian leather. Each speaker stands 1,176 mm tall at 61 kilograms.
