Sonus faber Olympica G3 III

Olympica G3 III is the mid-scale floorstander of Sonus faber's third-generation Olympica Collection, introduced in mid-2026 as the successor to the Olympica Nova III. The collection takes its name and its proportions from Palladio's Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, and the G3 III is the model most rooms actually call for: a full three-way tower in slender proportions, sitting between the standmount Olympica G3 I and the flagship Olympica G3 V, and carrying technology that first appeared on the company's Suprema reference system.

The 3-way system places a 165 mm Camelia midrange — a paper-cone driver whose non-circular geometry is modelled on the petals of a camellia flower to break up the resonances a round cone would carry — in its own sealed, cork-lined enclosure, isolating it from the pressure of the twin 165 mm paper-cone woofers working in a vented bass section. Above it sits a 28 mm DAD Arrow Point silk-dome tweeter with extended frequency response, also cork-lined behind the dome. Crossover points fall at 365 Hz and 2,460 Hz.

The cabinet keeps the asymmetrical lute shape that defines Olympica — no flat or parallel walls — in hand-finished walnut or wengè real-wood veneer with herringbone grain, solid aluminum flanges, and hand-applied Italian leather. Frequency response is 42 Hz – 40,000 Hz, sensitivity 90 dB SPL (2.83 V/1 m), nominal impedance 4 ohms, with a recommended amplifier range of 50 – 300 W. Each cabinet measures 1104 × 376 × 459 mm (43.5 × 14.8 × 18.1 in) and weighs 35 kg (77.1 lb).

Olympica G3 III is available in Walnut Wood or Wengè Wood, each with solid aluminum and leather. It is set up on the floor in Tempe Room 2 on McIntosh amplification — walk in during showroom hours or book ahead to hear it against the rest of the Sonus faber range in the same room.
