Product Details

Description

Il Cremonese is Sonus faber's Reference Collection homage to Antonio Stradivari's greatest creation — the 1715 violin named 'Il Cremonese', celebrated for its rich and balanced sound, powerful Sol chord, and remarkable agility. The loudspeaker embodies Stradivari's relentless pursuit of acoustic perfection, translated through modern engineering into a floorstanding form that pays direct tribute to a centuries-long tradition of Italian violin-making.

The double-curvature lute cabinet features non-parallel walls with Avional surface treatments — an aluminum alloy commonly used in aircraft and aerospace industries. The rhomboidal diamond design optimizes structural solidity while creating clean, elegant lines that read as sculpture in a listening room. Each transducer's acoustic environment is meticulously designed — every internal volume insulated with individually-selected materials, from open-cell thermoplastic foam to fibrous materials similar to those used in pianos, to optimize the performance of each application.

The 3.5-way full para-aperiodic vented system pairs the 28 mm H28 XTR-04 DAD 'Arrow Point' tweeter and 180 mm M18 XTR-04 neodymium midrange with two 180 mm W18XTR-12 woofers and two 220 mm W22XTR-16 side-firing infra-woofers. Crossover points sit at 80, 250, and 2,500 Hz; the system reaches 35 Hz at 92 dB sensitivity and accepts 100 to 800 watts without clipping. Each speaker stands 1,449 mm tall and weighs 84 kilograms. This is a design for listeners who understand what Antonio Stradivari built and want a loudspeaker cut from the same intent.

Il Cremonese is available in Walnut high gloss with black inlays, Red high gloss with black inlays, or Wengè high gloss with maple inlays — all with black leather. Hear it at LMC — walk in during business hours at Scottsdale or Tempe, or book ahead for a prepared listening session.
