The Olympica Nova partner in the Gravis Collection — a sealed 10-inch long-throw honeycomb sandwich cone on 600 W Class AB, from 25 Hz.

Product Details

Description

Gravis III is the intermediate active subwoofer of Sonus faber's Gravis Collection — a sealed-box 10-inch design engineered specifically as the low-frequency partner for the Olympica Nova loudspeakers. It sits between Gravis II (10-inch active with passive radiator) and Gravis V (12-inch, Homage-matched) in the range, and its finish options were extended at launch to include Wenge and Walnut tops so the subwoofer visually matches the Olympica Nova cabinets it is designed to sit alongside.

The driver is a 250 mm (10-inch) long-throw unit with a trilaminated sandwich cone — two layers of woven fiberglass with a Nomex honeycomb core between them, wrapped in a wide rubber surround. The construction gives the diaphragm the stiffness to resist flexure at the excursions a subwoofer driver actually generates — Sonus faber claims up to an inch of excursion without flexure. Amplification is a Class AB stage rated at 600 watts nominal and 900 watts peak. Class AB rather than Class D is a deliberate choice: no switching artefacts in the low-frequency signal, at the cost of a substantial heatsink on the rear panel.

Frequency response reaches 25 Hz at the low end (Linkwitz 4th order roll-on, default setting) with the upper corner frequency user-adjustable. Rear-panel connections cover unbalanced RCA line inputs (L / R / LFE), a balanced XLR line input, and a Neutrik 4-pole Speakon high-level input that carries two stereo channels for connection to a power amplifier's speaker outputs. App control provides selectable presets, continuously adjustable crossover and phase, parametric EQ, delay, and automatic room calibration.

Cabinet dimensions are 415 mm high by 400 mm wide by 495 mm deep at 26.7 kilograms. Leather-wrapped body with a small Sonus faber logo medallion inset in the wooden top. Available in matte Wenge, matte Walnut, or gloss Piano Black.
