Sonus faber Gravis I

Gravis I is the compact active subwoofer of Sonus faber's Gravis Collection — a sealed-box, down-firing 8-inch design engineered as the correct-scale low-frequency partner for the Lumina line and the smaller Sonetto models. It is the smallest Gravis model, and the one that fits under a Lumina I bookshelf pair, a Concertino stand-mount system, or a compact multichannel setup where a Gravis II or Gravis III would visually and acoustically dominate.

The driver is a 210 mm (8-inch) down-firing long-throw unit with a treated paper cone and a wide rubber surround built for extended excursion. Down-firing loading gives the cabinet more even low-frequency distribution in compact rooms than a front-firing sealed design of the same size, and the closed-box alignment keeps bass fast and controlled rather than boomy. Amplification is 150 watts RMS and 250 watts peak from a Class AB stage — the same Class AB topology used across the entire Gravis range for the same reason: no switching artefacts in the low-frequency signal.

Rear-panel controls include continuously adjustable 30 to 120 Hz crossover at 24 dB/oct, 0 to 180 degree phase toggle, and dual volume controls for high-level and low-level inputs. Inputs cover LFE RCA, stereo unbalanced RCA line (L / R), and a Neutrik 4-pole Speakon high-level input for direct connection to a power amplifier's speaker outputs — the input Sonus faber recommends when the subwoofer should follow the sonic character of the amplifier driving the mains.

Available in multiple finish options matching the Lumina cabinet line. A natural upgrade for a Lumina I or Lumina II stereo pair, or the correct subwoofer scale for a Concertino stand-mount system.
