Sonus faber Lumina II

Lumina II is the larger of the two standard bookshelf models in Sonus faber's Lumina Collection — a 2-way vented-box design that adds a 150 mm paper-cone midwoofer to the shared Lumina tweeter, taking the low end lower and the output higher than Lumina I without moving to a floorstander. It sits below Lumina II Amator (same drivers, revised crossover) and above Lumina I (smaller 120 mm midwoofer) in the range.

The driver complement pairs the 29 mm DAD (Damped Apex Dome) silk soft dome tweeter shared across the entire Lumina range with a 150 mm paper-cone midwoofer developed with cellulose pulp and natural fibres, and derived from the Sonetto driver programme. Crossover sits at 1,800 Hz — the standard Lumina II figure that the Amator raises to 2,600 Hz.

The port fires forward through the baffle, which is the design feature that lets a bookshelf loudspeaker actually live inside a bookshelf — the port continues to work when the cabinet is near or against a rear wall, unlike rear-ported designs which lose control when they lose vent clearance. Multilayer wood front baffle with real-wood veneer, leather-wrapped side and top surfaces. Available in Black, Wenge or Walnut. A natural companion to a Gravis subwoofer for extended low-frequency performance, or the mains position in a Lumina 5.1 system anchored on the Lumina CI centre.
