Sonus faber Amati Folgore Limited Edition

The Amati Folgore Limited Edition takes Sonus faber's fifth-generation Amati — the Homage Collection reference floorstander that has anchored the range since 1998 — and commits it to a single limited-edition finish. The engineering is the standard Amati underneath: it is the surface treatment, and the intent behind it, that make this a distinct product.

Rame Folgore is an iridescent copper matte finish developed for this loudspeaker. Under directional lighting the copper reads warm and metallic; in the shadow it shifts cooler, closer to bronze. The colour behaves less like a paint and more like a patina, which is the point: a finish that changes across the day as the room's light changes across it. Econyl regenerated-nylon trim and dark grey aluminium detailing carry across the baffle and base.

The 3.5-way loudspeaker beneath is the Amati platform: a 28 mm neodymium DAD 'Arrow Point' tweeter and 150 mm neodymium midrange in a sealed Intono chamber, over two 220 mm Dual Drive Motor woofers in the vented-box Stealth Ultraflex system. Phase Coherent Level 3 crossover at 200, 270 and 2,200 Hz. Frequency response 28 Hz to 35 kHz, 91 dB sensitivity into 4 ohms, 50 to 450 watts of undistorted amplification.
