Product Details

Description

The McIntosh PS1K is McIntosh's dual-driver powered subwoofer — a two-woofer, two-amplifier design that shares the same fundamental engineering as the PS2K flagship at half the driver and amplifier count. Two 13-inch woofers with the patented Low Distortion/High Performance (LD/HP) Magnetic Circuit Design, each driven by a dedicated 500-watt Class D amplifier, combine to deliver up to 1,000 watts of low-frequency energy. For rooms and systems where the PS2K would be more subwoofer than needed, the PS1K delivers the same core McIntosh subwoofer character at a more accessible scale.

The driver-side engineering carries over from the PS2K unchanged. Multi-layer carbon fiber cones with an integrated formed joint to the voice coil deliver the same rigidity and distortion characteristics. Extra-long voice coils and long-excursion suspensions extend linear capability. Nearly 1.5-inch-thick sealed enclosure baffle for cabinet rigidity, woofers stacked above the amplifier module with a power output meter showing total real-time output.

The DSP suite is identical to the PS2K: adjustable low-pass filters, high-pass filters, two-band parametric EQ for room correction, level control, and phase adjustment. Power Control integration with other McIntosh components. High-gloss black finish with carbon trim and aluminum base to complement the XRT2.1K and XRT1.1K visually.

Pair with McIntosh loudspeakers (XR-series, LCR80, or ML1 Mk II) to extend low-frequency response deeper than the mains can achieve alone, or use in a mid-tier home theater system for cinema LFE reproduction. Available at LMC — walk in during business hours or book ahead.
