The MBL 101 X-Treme MKIII is MBL's absolute statement loudspeaker - a multi-tower Radialstrahler system that fills a room with 360-degree omnidirectional sound reproduction unlike anything conventional cone speakers can achieve. Four towers (a stereo pair of vertical Radialstrahler arrays plus a stereo pair of massive subwoofer towers) work in concert to reproduce the full spectrum of live musical performance with the acoustic authority of a concert venue.
MBL's patented Radialstrahler drivers use precisely-tensioned aluminium petals arranged in a spherical geometry. As the driver flexes, it radiates sound outward in every horizontal direction simultaneously. The result is a stereo image that fills the entire listening space rather than a narrow sweet spot; multiple listeners hear the same performance from any seat in the room. The MKIII refresh incorporates MBL's latest Radialstrahler tensioning, updated crossover, and refined subwoofer integration.

A room-filling presentation, from anywhere in the room
The 101 X-Treme delivers an enormous, room-filling presentation without requiring the listener to sit directly between the speakers. Its spherical, 360-degree Radialstrahler drivers create an exceptionally wide and immersive soundstage, with layers of depth and ambient information that extend well beyond the speakers themselves — effortless and engaging over long listening sessions.
A “concert hall” character
To my ears, the 101 X-Treme has a distinctly “concert hall” character, with an abundance of ambient cues and a large, enveloping soundstage that draws you into the recording — equally at home with intimate recordings and large-scale orchestral or live performances.
Scale with control
With twelve 12-inch drivers capable of reaching down to 17 Hz, the system can deliver tremendous low-frequency authority and slam when called upon, yet retains the speed, control, and delicacy necessary to reveal the smallest details in a recording.
