Description
Nerthus is the top of Barco Residential's Cinema at Home range and, in practical terms, a commercial cinema projector specified for a house. It runs native 4K DLP Cinema chips at 4,096 x 2,160 — the true digital cinema resolution, not the 3,840 x 2,160 of consumer 4K — with a solid state RGB laser light source reaching up to 32,000 lumens.
Color coverage is 100% of Rec. 2020, which is the widest gamut the standard defines and beyond what almost any consumer display attempts. A Barco Alchemy ICMP-X media server is built in, making the projector DCI compliant: with the right supporting equipment it will play Digital Cinema Packages, the same encrypted files distributed to commercial theatres. Consumer sources connect over HDMI alongside.
The Cinema at Home series descends directly from Barco's Series 4 platform, developed with the cinema operators who run it commercially. Nerthus is what goes in when the screen is large, the room is purpose-built, and the image has to hold up beside reference-tier audio.
