Wilson’s statement — the WAMM Master Chronosonic; one of the world’s most ambitious loudspeaker designs, sold as a factory-tuned pair.

Product Details

Description

The WAMM Master Chronosonic is Dave Wilson's magnum opus — the loudspeaker he spent a career preparing to build, and the reference against which the rest of the Wilson line is developed. A four-way, seven-driver modular tower, it exists to solve one problem more completely than any loudspeaker before it: making every frequency arrive at the listener's ear at the same instant.

The mechanism is the Master Chronosonic Micrometer system, a proprietary arrangement that lets the driver modules be adjusted in the time domain to the actual listening distance and seat height of the room — physical alignment in fractions of an inch that correspond to microseconds of arrival time, a precision impossible any other way. Every transducer was engineered for this loudspeaker: the Convergent Synergy Mk5 tweeter with its rear-firing ambient partner, twin alnico QuadraMag midranges, and twin 10.5″ and dual 13″ woofers in their own module. The enclosures are X-Material and S-Material throughout, roughly 1,800 pounds per channel, and the specified result is honest about its terms: 19 Hz to 33 kHz within ±3 dB, in-room, adjusted.

LMC's Scottsdale reference room is anchored by one of fewer than ten WAMM systems in demonstration anywhere in the world. It is driven by Dan D'Agostino's Relentless 800 monoblocks, sourced by the full dCS Varèse Music System and a Clearaudio Statement V2 — a chain assembled to the loudspeaker's standard rather than around its price.

Walk in during business hours, or book ahead for an extended session — booking ahead lets us set the Micrometer alignment to the seat you occupy, so a proper WAMM demonstration is less like auditioning a loudspeaker and more like being measured for one. Bring the recordings you know best. The minimum is 200 watts per channel; what is on hand comfortably exceeds it.
