Description

The Alexia V is where Wilson Audio's reference-tier program meets a room a normal home can offer. It has always been the loudspeaker in the line that delivers reference performance in real-world spaces — compact enough for a far wider range of rooms than the Alexx V or larger, without surrendering the engineering that defines the tier.

The transducer set is the reference set. The Convergent Synergy Carbon tweeter is 3D-printed in Provo; the midrange runs Wilson's dissimilar-driver QuadraMag alnico pair, each optimized for its portion of the band; and the twin 10.5″ woofers trace directly to the WAMM program. The upper modules sit in an adjustable array, aimed and time-aligned to the listening position at installation — the same discipline as the flagships, at 350 pounds per channel instead of 1,400. In-room response runs 19 Hz to 33 kHz within ±3 dB.

The Alexia V earns its keep in both showrooms, in two very different jobs. In Scottsdale it anchors a two-channel reference system on Dan D'Agostino Momentum Z monoblocks with the C2 preamplifier and a dCS Rossini APEX front end. In Tempe it does something rarer: it forms the front stage of the reference theater on McIntosh MC1.25KW monoblocks — chosen because it is among the best loudspeakers Wilson builds, not because it was designed for cinema, and the difference is audible inside the first minute of film.

Fifty watts is the stated minimum and both installations run far past it. If you are deciding between Alexia V and Sasha V, the comparison is set up and takes an afternoon; if you are deciding between Alexia V and Alexx V, the question is usually the room, and that is a conversation worth having before the audition rather than after.
