Product Details
The Amplitude8 puts eight channels of Hypex Ncore NC1200 into one chassis — the Class D module that made the technology credible to listeners who had written it off. Each channel gives 225 watts into 8 ohms, 375 into 4, 500 into 2, with load-independent frequency response and a noise floor among the lowest measured in any amplifier.
Input sensitivity is matched to the Altitude32's output, which cuts system noise by six to eight decibels compared with a generic multi-channel amplifier. Cooling is convection only, no fans, which matters when the rack lives inside the room rather than in a closet down the hall. Two independent linear supplies with heavy toroidal transformers hold the voltage under transient load.
At 48 kilograms it is not a light amplifier, and the weight is where the power supply went.
