The XL RCA Interconnect is Transparent’s bridge tier within the ULTIMATE (CONNOISSEUR) collection — the cable to move to when Reference has been outgrown and Opus is the eventual target rather than the current one. Transparent frames XL as a Gen 6 product built to be a clear step up from Reference while approaching Opus performance at a fraction of Opus pricing, and the engineering follows through on that: the same carbon fiber composite (CFC) network architecture and IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin) mass-loading as Reference, executed with larger, heftier network modules, more precisely-matched components, and network calibration that goes further into cable-and-system specificity than Reference does.

Compared to Reference RCA, XL’s network components are chosen and matched more closely to the electrical characteristics of the cable and its exact length, and the network itself is calibrated more precisely to the electrical output characteristics of your specific source components and preamplifier. The larger CFC modules accommodate a greater mass of epoxy resin than Reference, further reducing the impact of resonance and vibration on network performance. Beautiful gold-plated Transparent RCA connectors mate to precision-wound OFHC stranded copper. The audible result over Reference RCA is well-defined bass energy carried further into the bottom octave and a quieter interface for low-level signals — not a tonal shift, but a widening of what the signal chain can reveal.
