Transparent Audio REFERENCE Balanced Interconnect

The Reference Balanced Interconnect is the XLR-terminated companion to Reference RCA — sitting in Transparent’s ULTIMATE (CONNOISSEUR) collection, engineered for connoisseur-tier balanced-line systems. Reference Balanced runs a fully differential design end-to-end: dual networks precisely matched to each channel’s positive and negative signal paths, in two carbon fiber composite (CFC) network modules per channel. That construction is what Transparent describes as “a fully balanced design from cabling through the precisely matched dual networks for each channel” — a significant step beyond Ultra Balanced’s single-module-per-channel implementation.

The CFC housings are stiff and lightweight with larger internal cavities than Ultra’s acrylic modules, filled with IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin) to mass-load the network components against vibration and resonance. Reference Balanced is also calibrated to the specific balanced source component’s output impedance and characteristics — the same “first tier calibrated to specific components” principle that runs through the entire Reference range. Gold-plated XLR connectors mate to precision-wound OFHC stranded copper heavier than Ultra Balanced uses. The audible result: deeper bass extension, sharper transient definition, and more complete rejection of common-mode noise than Ultra Balanced can deliver.
