Product Details
The Reference RCA Interconnect is the entry point into Transparent’s ULTIMATE collection — also called the CONNOISSEUR collection in Transparent’s current branding — and the first tier where cables are calibrated not just to length and type but to the specific output characteristics of the source components they’ll run between. Reference is where Transparent’s engineering moves from acrylic network housings (Ultra) to carbon fiber composite: stiffer, lighter, with larger internal cavities for the network components to sit in, filled with IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin) to mass-load the network against vibration and resonance far more completely than Ultra’s damping approach.
Reference RCA comes in two calibration versions — high impedance and low impedance — matched to the source or preamp output impedance the cable will actually see. Transparent asks which components the cable will run between before manufacture, then builds the network specifically for that pairing. Inside each CFC network module: precision-matched components mass-loaded in IFER, network filtering calibrated to both cable length and source/preamp output. Gold-plated RCA connectors mate to precision-wound OFHC stranded copper. The audible result over Ultra RCA is deeper bass extension, sharper transient definition, and a wider soundstage — the differences the ULTIMATE tier is designed to reveal.
Reference RCA is designed for systems being built toward connoisseur tier — some of the best audio components currently available, where each component is highly resolving and requires cable calibration to preserve signal integrity as the signal moves from stage to stage. Level-matched ULTIMATE companions include Reference Speaker Cable, Reference Balanced, Reference Phono, and the Reference power products. Fully upgradeable to XL, Opus, or Magnum Opus through Transparent’s Upgrade Program, with original investment retained. Warranty registration extends to lifetime and entitles the owner to free network recalibration if a component change moves the electrical characteristics enough to require it.
Reference is where the tier decision becomes personal to the system — the same Reference RCA calibrated for a balanced-out DAC into a solid-state preamp is a different cable than one calibrated for a tubed preamp into a solid-state amp, even though the physical build is identical. That specificity is what makes ULTIMATE-tier cables worth auditioning in the system they’ll actually serve rather than in a generic demo. Walk in during business hours or book ahead if the audition is part of a specific-component decision.
ULTIMATE (also called CONNOISSEUR) — Transparent’s cable line for systems being built toward connoisseur tier
First Transparent tier calibrated to the specific electrical output characteristics of your source components — not just to cable length and type
Two carbon fiber composite (CFC) modules per channel — stiffer, lighter, larger cavities than Ultra’s acrylic housings
IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin) fills every void inside each CFC module to mass-load the network against vibration and resonance
Two versions: high impedance or low impedance — specify source/preamp when ordering
Precision-wound OFHC stranded copper — heavier than Ultra RCA
Gold-plated RCA
