Transparent Audio XL Balanced Interconnect

The XL Balanced Interconnect is the XLR-terminated companion to XL RCA within the ULTIMATE (CONNOISSEUR) collection — Transparent’s bridge tier between Reference and Opus, executed for fully balanced signal chains. Under the sleeve it uses the same larger Gen 6 carbon fiber composite (CFC) network modules and IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin) mass-loading as XL RCA, with the network calibrated to the balanced-topology impedance and to the electrical characteristics of the specific source and preamplifier the cable will run between rather than to single-ended interfaces.

Compared to Reference Balanced, XL’s network components are chosen and matched more closely to the electrical characteristics of the cable and its exact length, and network filtering is more comprehensive across the balanced signal path. The larger CFC modules accommodate a greater mass of epoxy resin than Reference, providing more effective damping of resonance and vibration around the network components. High-quality XLR connectors with gold-plated contacts mate to precision-wound OFHC stranded copper. The step from Reference to XL Balanced typically shows up as extended, well-defined bass energy carried further into the bottom octave and a quieter interface for low-level signals — the same performance widening XL RCA delivers, in the balanced-line topology.

XL Balanced is designed for connoisseur-tier systems with fully balanced differential source components and a preamplifier where cable-level precision in network calibration is clearly audible — not simply components with XLR jacks wired to single-ended input stages. Level-matched ULTIMATE companions include XL RCA, XL Speaker Cable, XL Phono, and XL Power Cord. Fully upgradeable to Opus or Magnum Opus Balanced through Transparent’s Upgrade Program, with original investment retained. Warranty registration extends to lifetime and entitles owners to free network recalibration when a component change requires adjustment.
