Product Details
The Opus Balanced Interconnect sits in Transparent’s TRANSCENDENT collection, one step below the Magnum Opus flagship — and, more precisely, it’s where Transparent’s Network Technology moves from calibration-per-length to full differential architecture. Every Opus Balanced has two independent module housings per channel, each carrying a fully differentially balanced network so the positive and negative signal paths never share filter components. What that gains you is a quieter interface for low-level information and better-defined bass energy in the bottom octave than XL Balanced — the tier immediately below it.
Inside the carbon-fiber housings, network components are matched by hand to the specific electrical characteristics of the cable and its length, then further calibrated to the output characteristics of your source or preamplifier — Transparent will ask which components the cable will run between before building it. The components sit in electrically neutral epoxy, held inside a contoured carbon-fiber network housing chosen for two reasons: it’s nonmagnetic, and it’s exceptionally stiff. The result is a wider internal cavity where the electromagnetic field around the network can expand freely, which is what allows the low-level detail retrieval Opus is known for.
Opus Balanced fits systems where source, preamp, and amplification are already reference-class — the level where the cable becomes the last variable that decides what the system actually delivers. Its level-matched TRANSCENDENT collection companions include Opus Speaker Cable, Opus RCA, Opus Phono, and the Opus power products. Full Transparent Upgrade Program eligibility applies: Opus Balanced is upgradeable to Magnum Opus Balanced, with original investment credited. Warranty registration extends the standard warranty to a limited lifetime and — importantly for cables in a system that will evolve — entitles the owner to free network recalibrations if a component change moves the electrical characteristics enough to require them.
Opus is a cable that rewards being auditioned in the actual room and system it will end up in — and reference systems in Scottsdale can host that comparison against XL Balanced, Reference, and Magnum Opus.
