Reference Speaker Cable uses carbon fiber composite (CFC) network carapaces on each channel with substantially larger IFER-filled cavities than Ultra Speaker Cable, and sits on a PMMA (acrylic) plinth with a thin thermoplastic sound-damping layer between carapace and plinth — a laminate vibration-control approach that reduces network resonance and improves damping considerably vs Ultra.

Custom-machined gold-plated tellurium copper spade or banana terminations transfer current through heavy precision-wound OFHC stranded copper heavier than Ultra Speaker Cable uses. The CFC network housings’ larger internal cavities and IFER fill allow the electromagnetic field around the network components to expand and interact freely rather than being constrained by the housing walls, which is where the deeper, tighter bass frequencies and more refined transient handling of Reference vs Ultra come from. Sold in pairs; biwire configurations are available for four-post speakers.
