Description

The Magnum Opus Balanced Interconnect is the XLR-terminated pinnacle of Transparent’s line and the TRANSCENDENT-collection flagship for balanced signal chains. It shares Magnum Opus RCA’s architecture — iconic outrigger network housing filled with IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin), reconfigured PMMA-and-IFER platform (stiffer, heavier, more stable, more vibration-nulling than Opus), thin thermoplastic sound-damping laminate, fasteners bored deeply into the IFER mass — but executed for fully differential-balanced signal transmission. Fully balanced design from cabling through the precisely matched dual networks per channel, engineered to deliver superior low-end energy and a quieter interface for low-level signals than any Opus Balanced can.

What separates Magnum Opus Balanced from Opus Balanced at the electrical level is tolerance and matching: all network components matched and measured at the edge of what technicians can control in production; the network calibrated to the specific balanced-topology impedance of your source or preamplifier and to the exact cable length with a precision Opus production doesn’t reach. Gold-plated XLR connectors mate to precision-wound OFHC stranded copper. The performance step over Opus Balanced typically shows up as enhanced clarity, more accurate transmission of micro-dynamics and harmonic shading, well-defined bass energy carried through the bottom octave, and a quieter interface for low-level signals — the difference reference-class balanced source components and preamplifiers are designed to reveal.

Magnum Opus Balanced is designed to complement the finest fully differential-balanced source components and preamplifiers ever made — the systems built over years of component decisions where every element is reference-class. Because the network is calibrated to a specific balanced source and preamp, Transparent needs both ends before manufacture. Level-matched TRANSCENDENT companions include Magnum Opus RCA, Magnum Opus Speaker Cable, and Magnum Opus Phono. This is the top of the Transparent balanced interconnect hierarchy — no upgrade path above. Warranty registration extends to lifetime and entitles owners to free network recalibration when a component change requires network adjustment.

Balanced cables at the Magnum Opus tier reveal their difference over Opus Balanced in the actual chain, with the actual source components and preamplifier in place — the difference is calibration precision to the specific balanced topology, not a change of tonal signature. Walk in during business hours or book ahead if the audition is an Opus-vs-Magnum-Opus balanced comparison and the actual source and preamp need to be part of the test.
