Transparent Audio XL Speaker Cable

The XL Speaker Cable is the amplifier-to-speaker link that bridges Reference and Opus within Transparent’s ULTIMATE (CONNOISSEUR) collection — the tier to move to when Reference Speaker Cable has been outgrown and Opus is the next-decade target rather than the current one. XL Speaker Cable uses the same two-sided calibration approach as Reference (network tuned to the specific amplifier output characteristics AND to the specific speaker impedance and reactance curve) with a substantially heftier, larger carbon fiber composite (CFC) network module, more comprehensive IFER (Integrated Flexible Epoxy Resin) mass-loading, and network components more closely matched to both the amp end and the speaker end of the connection.

Compared to Reference Speaker Cable, XL’s network components are chosen and matched more closely to the electrical characteristics of the cable itself and its exact length, and network filtering is more comprehensive across the amp-to-speaker current path. The larger network module accommodates a greater mass of epoxy resin than Reference, providing more effective damping of resonance and vibration around network components while allowing the electromagnetic fields inside to expand freely. Custom-machined gold-plated tellurium copper spade or banana terminations transfer current through precision-wound OFHC stranded copper heavier than Reference Speaker Cable uses. The audible step over Reference typically shows up as bass energy carried deeper into the bottom octave with greater definition and a quieter interface between amplifier and speaker at low levels.

XL Speaker Cable is designed for connoisseur-tier systems where the amplifier and speakers are both highly resolving and where the delta from Reference-tier cable-to-network matching becomes clearly audible in the actual room. Because the network is calibrated to a specific amp/speaker pairing, Transparent needs both ends before manufacture. Level-matched ULTIMATE companions include XL RCA, XL Balanced, XL Phono, and XL Power Cord. Fully upgradeable to Opus or Magnum Opus Speaker Cable through Transparent’s Upgrade Program, with original investment retained. Warranty registration extends to lifetime and entitles owners to free network recalibration when a system change requires it.
