Product Details
The REFERENCE PowerIsolator is Transparent’s newest chassis product in the power range — an eight-outlet, four-bank power foundation designed to feed a full system rack from a single unit. It sits below the top-tier OPUS PowerIsolator and the XL PowerIsolator above it, but above the PowerWave family and PowerBank 6 below it in the general Transparent power hierarchy. Where OPUS is optimised for one high-resolution component on a dedicated circuit, REFERENCE is optimised for the whole rack.
The engineering runs on the same fundamental Transparent philosophy — a parallel filter circuit that does not restrict current — with the surge protection elevated to a design that solves the sacrificial-MOV problem. Avalanche-diode surge protection sits on every one of the eight outlets: response is instantaneous, and the diode never wears out after a surge event (unlike the standard metal-oxide varistor designs that must be replaced after a single significant surge). Power factor correction and Transparent’s custom-designed common-mode noise rejection are more capable than any prior REFERENCE-tier conditioner. A hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker replaces the conventional fuse for overcurrent protection — without the sonic penalty a fuse introduces.
Grounding is star-configured: every outlet operates at identical ground potential, and a chassis ground lug resolves any residual grounding issues in the room’s wiring. Gigabit-network and coaxial surge protection safeguard the entire signal chain, not just the AC line. Extensive internal bracing and custom-built vibration-isolation feet make the chassis more resistant to structure-borne interference. 40 lb total; the REFERENCE Power Cord is included (upgradeable to XL or OPUS Power Cord).
REFERENCE PowerIsolator is the right unit for systems approaching reference class where the buyer wants a single-chassis power hub that handles surge, filter, and grounding for the entire rack — rather than one OPUS per component. Handcrafted in Saco, Maine. Available on order at LMC Scottsdale — walk in during business hours or book ahead if the audition needs a REFERENCE-vs-XL or REFERENCE-vs-stacked-OPUS comparison on your specific system.
Newest PowerIsolator chassis — the multi-outlet foundation for a full-system rack. Sits below the XL and OPUS PowerIsolators, above PowerWave X and PowerWave in the general Transparent power hierarchy
8 high-current US outlets in 4 isolated banks
Avalanche-diode surge protection on every outlet — instantaneous, never wears out. Unlike sacrificial MOV designs that fail after a single surge event
Parallel filter circuit — no current restriction; power factor correction; custom-designed common-mode noise rejection more capable than any prior REFERENCE-tier conditioner
Hydraulic-magnetic circuit breaker — overcurrent protection without the sonic penalty of conventional fuses
Star grounding — every outlet at identical ground potential; chassis ground lug resolves residual grounding issues
Gigabit network + coaxial surge protection — the entire signal chain, not just the AC line
Extensive internal bracing + custom-built vibration-isolation feet — chassis resistant to structure-borne interference
8 high-current outlets, 4 isolated banks — the multi-outlet PowerIsolator for a full-system rack
Avalanche-diode on all 8 outlets — instantaneous response, non-sacrificial (unlike common MOV-based designs)
