The THX-certified reference projection surface — 1.3 peak gain at 0 degrees, roughly 30 percent brighter than a standard matte white.

Product Details

Description

StudioTek 130 is the material the rest of the industry is measured against — THX certified as the reference projection surface, and used in professional screening rooms and post-production suites as well as private cinemas. Peak gain is 1.3 at 0 degrees, which puts roughly thirty percent more light back at the seats than a standard matte white surface without narrowing the useful viewing cone to a single chair.

The G4 reformulation is more flexible than the material it replaced, with visibly reduced sparkle and better white field uniformity. It also holds high dynamic range luminosity more consistently than higher-gain competitors, which is where aggressive-gain screens tend to fall apart on HDR content.

For a dedicated theatre the variant that matters is MicroPerf X², a THX Ultra certified acoustically transparent perforation that lets the front loudspeakers sit behind the image. That is not a convenience — it is the only way dialogue comes from the mouth on screen and the only way the front stage is positioned by acoustics rather than by furniture.
