Stewart’s ambient light rejecting material, flexible enough for fixed frames or electric roller screens — for rooms used in daylight.

Product Details

Description

Phantom HALR is Stewart's ambient light rejecting material, and it answers a question a dedicated theatre never has to ask: what happens when the room has windows. An ambient light rejecting surface is built to accept light arriving from the projector's angle and reject light arriving from elsewhere, so the image holds contrast in conditions that would wash out a conventional white screen.

Unlike most materials in this category it is flexible rather than rigid, which means it can be specified for an electric roller screen as well as a fixed frame — useful in a living room where the screen should disappear when it is not in use.

The trade-off is real and worth stating plainly: an ambient light rejecting surface is optimised for a room with light in it, and in a fully blacked-out theatre a reference material like StudioTek 130 G4 will do better. Choosing between them is a question about the room, not about the screen.
