CineCurve exists for one specific situation: a projector fitted with an anamorphic lens. An anamorphic lens stretches the image horizontally so that all of the projector's pixels are used on a 2.40:1 film rather than a third of them being spent on black bars — but it also introduces geometric distortion toward the edges. A curved screen corrects for it.

The frame carries a native 2.40:1 image area with optional independent, digitally controlled masking panels that matte the vertical edges with continuous variability, so the screen changes shape between CinemaScope and 1.78 while holding constant image height. Stewart engineers the radius either to the specific anamorphic lens in use or to the room's seating position and architecture.

Systems arrive pre-engineered, pre-rigged and fully tested, which matters on a screen of this complexity. Whether a room wants CineCurve or the four-way masking of Director's Choice comes down to constant height versus constant area — a decision worth making before the room is built rather than after.
