Product Details

Description

The GTZ380 is Sony's flagship projector and the point where the home line meets the professional one. It resolves 4,096 x 2,160 — full DCI resolution rather than the 3,840 x 2,160 of consumer 4K — through a three-chip SXRD imaging system, and it produces 10,000 lumens. For context, 3,000 lumens is considered high for a home cinema projector.

The light engine includes a deep red laser, which is the reason the projector achieves 100 percent of the DCI-P3 gamut without losing brightness to colour filtering. Contrast is rated at 16,000:1. Processing is handled by X1 Ultimate, the processor Sony developed here first and later adapted down the range, with Object-based HDR Remaster analysing individual objects in a frame rather than applying a single curve to the whole image.

This is a projector for a purpose-built room with a large screen and the budget to match, and the ARC-F lens is specified separately. It is not the right answer for most rooms, which is precisely why it is worth hearing before deciding.
