Product Details

Description

The BRAVIA 9 II is the top of Sony's television range and the fullest implementation of True RGB — a backlight built from discrete red, green and blue LEDs rather than blue LEDs filtered down to produce the other colours. Removing the filter step is what lets the panel hold colour volume at high brightness instead of trading one against the other.

Sony positions it explicitly against its own professional mastering monitors, the displays its colourists grade on. That is a more specific claim than flagship marketing usually makes, and a checkable one. Peak brightness is quoted at up to 4,000 nits. Sizes run 65, 75, 85 and 115 inches, the last being the largest television Sony has built, and every size below it carries a matte screen film — which matters more in a room with windows than most of the numbers on the box.

In a house that already has a dedicated cinema, this is the display for the room that will never go properly dark. It is not a substitute for a projector and a screen; it is what belongs where those cannot go.
