Sonus faber Lumina V Amator

Lumina V Amator is the Amator edition of Sonus faber's Lumina V floorstander — same 3-way driver complement as the standard model, but with a revised crossover derived from the Amati G5 and Guarneri G5 Homage loudspeakers, and a finish programme that lifts the Lumina cabinet into a different visual register. Sonus faber reserves the Amator designation for models where the standard product is respecified with materials and tuning borrowed from further up the range.

The drivers themselves are unchanged: a 29 mm DAD (Damped Apex Dome) silk soft dome tweeter developed with Kurt Müller, a 150 mm paper-cone midrange blending cellulose pulp with natural fibres, and two 165 mm paper-pulp sandwich woofers venting downward through a fixed plinth. The change is in the crossover topology and its component quality — Hybrid IFF Paracross with Sonus faber-branded capacitors, and a tweeter transition raised 250 Hz to 2,850 Hz to open the midrange window and give the Amator a more forward presentation than the standard Lumina V.

Frequency response is 40 Hz to 24 kHz at 89 dB sensitivity into 4 ohms, with recommended amplification of 50 to 250 watts. The Amator finish programme replaces the standard Lumina V's leather-wrapped baffle with Glossy Red, Wenge or Walnut real-wood veneer oriented at 45° across the front baffle — an unusual finish detail that reads as a piece of Italian furniture rather than a loudspeaker cabinet.
