Sonus faber Gravis II

Gravis II is the mid-tier active subwoofer of Sonus faber's Gravis Collection — a hybrid design pairing a front-firing 10-inch active driver with a front-firing 10-inch passive radiator, driven by a 400 watt Class AB amplifier. It sits above Gravis I (8-inch sealed) and below Gravis III (10-inch sealed) in the range, and it is the subwoofer that fits most naturally with a Sonetto or Lumina main-channel system in a mid-tier stereo or 5.1 installation.

The passive radiator is what distinguishes Gravis II from Gravis III above it: instead of loading the driver against a fully sealed enclosure, the cabinet uses a matched 260 mm passive radiator to extend low-frequency output without the ports that would add group delay or air noise. The result is bass extension closer to that of a much larger sealed subwoofer, in a cabinet size suited to the loudspeakers the Gravis II is designed to partner.

The active driver is a very long-throw 260 mm treated-paper cone with a wide rubber surround, driven by 400 watts of Class AB amplification. Rear-panel connections cover unbalanced RCA line inputs (L / R / LFE), balanced XLR line, and Neutrik 4-pole Speakon high-level. App control covers selectable presets, continuously adjustable crossover and phase, and parametric EQ.
