McIntosh XR50 Bookshelf Loudspeaker

The McIntosh XR50 is McIntosh's compact 3-way, 4-driver loudspeaker — voiced to match the XR100 tower and the LCR80 LCR speaker for hybrid systems where all three coexist across a room. The 0.75-inch titanium dome tweeter is the same one used in the XR100, LCR80, and ML1 Mk II, so the family voicing continuity is designed in at the driver level rather than assembled with EQ.

The 3-way architecture uses a single tweeter plus two 2-inch midrange-tweeters flanking it — an approach that clarifies and extends vocal reproduction (dialogue intelligibility improves noticeably in home theater use) while keeping the compact form factor intact. Below the multi-midrange array, a woofer handles the low end within the physical limits a bookshelf-size cabinet imposes.

Up to 300 watts of power handling — enough headroom to be driven properly by any McIntosh integrated amp from the MA5300 through the MA12000 without stressing the drivers. 8 ohm nominal impedance. Available in the same fine gloss wood finishes as the XR100 and LCR80 (Black, Red Walnut, and Pear Maple) so a mixed-speaker home theater looks visually consistent across the front stage and surround positions.

The XR50 slots naturally into a McIntosh cinema system as surround or rear channels behind XR100 fronts and an LCR80 center — or as the primary 2-channel loudspeaker in a small room where the XR100 tower is more speaker than the space needs.
