Product Details
The McIntosh XR100 is McIntosh's mainstream floor standing loudspeaker — a 4-way ported design with 13 drivers per speaker in a slim tower that fits normal home audio rooms without the physical statement of the XRT-series line arrays. Four 6-inch LD/HP woofers, ten 2-inch inverted-titanium-dome midranges (eight covering 300 Hz to 2 kHz and two additional midrange-tweeters covering 2 kHz to 8 kHz), and a single 0.75-inch titanium dome tweeter — the same tweeter used in the XR50, LCR80, and ML1 Mk II for family voicing continuity.
The 4-woofer configuration is intentional. Doubling the number of woofers gains 3 dB of sensitivity and lowers each driver's excursion demand, so four smaller woofers acting in concert produce deeper, tighter bass than one large woofer of equivalent cone area — the XR100 reaches down to 30 Hz without a subwoofer. The multiple-midrange vertical array around the central tweeter provides controlled vertical dispersion similar to what the XRT-series line arrays deliver at their larger scale.
75 to 600 watts of appropriate amplifier power, 87 dB sensitivity, 8-ohm nominal impedance. Available in fine gloss wood finishes: Black, Red Walnut, and Pear Maple. Solid Cinch gold-plated binding posts. Illuminated McIntosh logo when connected to a McIntosh amplifier via Power Control.
The natural pairing for McIntosh integrated amps (MA5300 through MA12000) or moderate separates chains (C49 or C55 preamp with MC152, MC312, or MC462 power amp). Available at LMC — walk in during business hours or book ahead.
