Product Details
The McIntosh MT5 Precision Turntable is the mid-tier of the McIntosh turntable program — a belt-drive precision design supplied with tonearm factory-configured, presented in the same McIntosh industrial vocabulary as the reference MT10. Where the MT10 sits at the top of a full McIntosh reference chain, the MT5 delivers the same design philosophy at a more accessible tier for a McIntosh system that does not demand the flagship turntable but still wants a McIntosh-branded analog source that reads consistently on the rack.
The engineering priorities are consistent with the rest of the McIntosh turntable line. A precisely regulated motor drives the platter through a belt that decouples motor vibration from the record surface. The plinth is damped to reject external vibration and airborne acoustic feedback from nearby loudspeakers. The tonearm arrives factory-configured with the cartridge geometry set — no protractor, no scale, no specialist alignment work required to make first play. Presentation matches the rest of the McIntosh line: black glass, stainless steel, the recognisable McIntosh visual language on the equipment rack alongside a McIntosh amplifier or integrated.
For a McIntosh preamp-and-amp chain built one tier below the C1100 and MP1100 reference, the MT5 is the natural analog partner. It pairs with the MP100 for a compact solid-state phono stage or with the MP1100 for reference-tier tube phono — the MP1100 ships factory-pre-programmed with an MT5 loading profile, so the pairing is engineered rather than assembled.
