McIntosh MT2 Precision Turntable

The McIntosh MT2 Precision Turntable is the entry to the McIntosh turntable program — a belt-drive precision turntable with pre-installed tonearm, in the same McIntosh industrial vocabulary as the MT5 and reference MT10. For a McIntosh system that wants a McIntosh-branded analog source without stepping into the higher-tier turntables, the MT2 is the accessible answer.

The engineering priorities are consistent with the rest of the McIntosh turntable line. A regulated motor drives the platter through a belt that decouples motor vibration from the record surface. The plinth is damped to reject external vibration and airborne acoustic feedback. The tonearm arrives pre-installed and factory-configured, so first play does not require the specialist alignment work a bare-arm-and-cartridge purchase does — cartridge, arm, plinth, and platter arrive as one calibrated working system rather than as parts requiring integration.

Presentation matches the rest of the McIntosh line: black glass, stainless steel, the recognisable McIntosh visual language on the equipment rack alongside a McIntosh amplifier or integrated. In an entry-tier McIntosh system built around a McIntosh integrated amp with phono input — such as the MA252 or MA5300 — the MT2 is the natural analog source without the additional expense of a standalone phono preamplifier, though the MP100 opens up more flexibility for future cartridge or system changes without replacing the integrated amp.

At LMC the MT2 is the analog source in Scottsdale Hall, feeding a C22 Mk V vacuum tube preamplifier and a pair of MC1.25KW monoblocks driving Sonus faber Lilium — a useful demonstration that the entry deck holds its own well above its own tier.
