The McIntosh MP100 is a compact solid-state phono preamplifier — McIntosh's first dedicated standalone phono stage and the natural entry point for turntable listening in a McIntosh system. Where the flagship MP1100 employs a large dual-mono chassis and a fully balanced vacuum-tube signal path, the MP100 delivers McIntosh phono quality in a compact narrow chassis at a far more approachable tier.

Both moving-coil and moving-magnet inputs are provided with six loading settings each for fine-tuning to specific cartridge specifications. Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analog outputs connect to any preamp or integrated amp with a line-level input, while coax, optical, and USB digital outputs allow direct connection to a DAC or digital preamp for a hybrid analog-to-digital workflow.

The USB output is the standout feature at this tier — it makes the MP100 an analog-to-digital converter for ripping vinyl records directly to computer at 24-bit/96 kHz, converting an entire vinyl collection to high-resolution digital files for streaming through a Roon library or archival storage. A Mono switch reduces surface noise and reproduces the signal correctly for mono albums.
