McIntosh C55 Preamplifier

The McIntosh C55 is McIntosh’s flagship all-solid-state 2-channel preamplifier in the traditional single-chassis format — the natural pairing for any McIntosh solid-state or Hybrid Drive power amplifier for listeners who want extensive connectivity and control without stepping up to the two-chassis C12000. Below the reference-tier C2800 (vacuum tube) and C12000 (dual-topology), the C55 delivers the full McIntosh solid-state preamp feature set in a more accessible tier.

Sixteen analog and digital inputs cover essentially any source. The included DA2 Digital Audio Module supports 24-bit/192kHz PCM and DSD512 files via USB, plus coaxial, optical, MCT, and HDMI ARC digital inputs — a DAC platform substantial enough that many C55 owners do not require an external DAC in the system. Eight-band analog equalizer for fine tonal control across the full audio range. Subwoofer output for adding a powered subwoofer to a two-channel system.

Control4 Certification and Crestron Home Certification make the C55 the natural preamp for high-end custom install systems where the preamplifier must integrate into a whole-home control platform.
