A 300W vacuum tube monoblock — the middle tier of the McIntosh tube range, with Unity Coupled Circuit output and Quad Balanced topology.

Product Details

Description

The McIntosh MC2301 is a 300-watt-per-channel vacuum tube monoblock power amplifier — the middle tier in McIntosh’s current tube monoblock range, sitting between the MC1502 stereo tube amp (150W per channel) and the MC3500 Mk II flagship monoblock (350W per channel). For listeners who want dedicated monoblock tube amplification with the traditional McIntosh tube architecture at a more approachable scale than the MC3500 Mk II, the MC2301 is the natural choice.

The Unity Coupled Circuit Output Transformer is McIntosh’s patented tube output topology — the same engineering that has defined McIntosh vacuum tube amplifiers for decades. It allows the amplifier to deliver rated power into any speaker load without the impedance-matching limitations of conventional tube designs. Quad Balanced topology on the tube stages ensures the cleanest possible signal path from input to output. Sentry Monitor protects the output tubes against short circuits and improper loading.

At LMC, the MC2301 pair drives the Sonus faber Il Cremonese in Tempe Room 2, feeding an all-McIntosh source and preamplifier chain (MT10 turntable, DS200 streamer). This is McIntosh’s tube-monoblock architecture in its most concrete demonstration — 300W of tube power per channel driving a loudspeaker whose scale and character the tube tier of McIntosh amplification was specifically built for. McIntosh signature aesthetics with exposed output tubes visible through top-panel windows, blue-lit power meter, and black glass front.

At $31,000 the pair in current McIntosh pricing, the MC2301 is available for audition at Scottsdale or Tempe. Walk in during business hours or book ahead for a prepared listening session — hearing the MC2301 driving the Il Cremonese in Tempe Room 2 is the honest demonstration of what dedicated tube monoblocks deliver against a reference loudspeaker.
