Product Details
The McIntosh MC1.25KW is the statement of McIntosh’s amplification program — 1,250 watts of monoblock power, delivered through the McIntosh Autoformer that has defined the company’s approach to amplifier output since the 1940s. The Autoformer means the amplifier delivers full rated power into 8, 4, or 2 ohms without compromise, a design philosophy unique to McIntosh in a market that has largely abandoned output transformers on solid-state amplifiers. For reference-tier loudspeakers whose impedance curve is aggressive at the bottom end, this is the difference between an amplifier that plays and an amplifier that reaches its potential.
Quad Balanced solid-state topology cancels distortion at the output stage. Power Guard prevents the amplifier from clipping into hard peaks. Sentry Monitor protects the output transistors against short circuits and improper loading. The signature blue McIntosh power meters, the black glass front panel, and the polished stainless steel construction have anchored what a McIntosh product looks like for decades — the MC1.25KW is the current expression of that industrial design at the highest amplification tier.
At LMC, a pair of MC1.25KW monoblocks drives the McIntosh XRT2.1K line array in the Grand Cinema Suite in Scottsdale, and a second pair drives the Alexia V and Mezzo CSC in the Tempe Theater alongside Wisdom in-walls and Ascendo subs. Both installations are the honest demonstration of what the MC1.25KW delivers against reference-tier loudspeakers in a purpose-designed room. LMC has been a McIntosh dealer since 1999 and named McIntosh Dealer of the Year six consecutive years (2011–2016) — a partnership measured in decades.
At $31,000 the pair in current McIntosh pricing, the MC1.25KW is available for audition at Scottsdale or Tempe. Walk in during business hours or book ahead for a prepared listening session in either installation — hearing the amplifier against the XRT2.1K or against the Alexia V is a genuinely different audition, and both are worth the trip.
