Magnepan 3.7i

The 3.7i is the entry point into Magnepan's true-ribbon-tweeter lineup — the same ribbon tweeter as the flagship 30.7 and 20.7, paired with quasi-ribbon midrange and quasi-ribbon bass drivers in a three-way single-panel design. The result is transient response, top-octave sweetness, and imaging specificity that costs multiples elsewhere in a dynamic loudspeaker. As Jonathan Valin of The Absolute Sound has said, this is where Maggie owners typically fall permanently in love with planar magnetic sound. The 3.7i requires a moderately-sized room and a solid amplifier to shine — but when properly driven, it delivers a coherent, holographic presentation that dynamic speakers rarely match at 3-4x the price.
