Magnepan 2.7i

The 2.7i is Magnepan's three-way, full-range planar magnetic loudspeaker using aluminum-foil quasi-ribbon drivers for bass, midrange, and treble. The absence of a true ribbon tweeter (versus the 3.7i and up) is offset by a cohesive quasi-ribbon presentation that many listeners actually prefer for its slightly warmer, more forgiving character. Both panels employ ultra-low-mass aluminum foil driven by a high-strength magnetic field — the design principle Magnepan has refined for over 55 years. The sound is transparent, holographic, and remarkably dynamic for a full-dipole planar, with imaging specificity that reveals what's on the recording rather than what's colored by the speaker.
