Kimber Kable 12TC Loudspeaker Cable

12TC is the largest and, for many rooms, the most complete of Kimber’s iconic woven TC-series speaker cables. Twenty-four TCSS conductors braided per channel — twelve clear insulation, twelve white — aggregating to 8 AWG per polarity, using the same hyper-pure oxygen-free electrolytic copper VariStrand construction that has kept the Ascent series in production for decades.

The construction is Kimber’s original insight from 1979: braid the conductors instead of shielding them, and the shape of the woven array cancels the induced fields that plain parallel conductors generate. With twenty-four conductors per channel, the geometry is more complex than 8TC, which increases both effective RFI rejection and total copper mass by fifty percent. Fluorocarbon (Teflon) dielectric encloses each conductor. Measured, the result is 494 pF per metre parallel capacitance, 0.09 µH per metre series inductance, and 0.005 Ω per metre DC loop resistance.

Copper conductivity is 102% IACS — an industry-standard measure of oxygen-free copper purity. Termination options run from bare wire through WBT NextGen banana or spade, with Kimber’s own Postmaster locking spades available in two diameters for standard and oversized binding posts. 12TC has held a place in the Absolute Sound Editor’s Choice list every year it has been eligible; the description “detail, liveliness, tonal neutrality, and dynamic contrasts within a very realistic, holographic soundstage” comes straight out of their 2025 write-up.

12TC sits at the top of the Ascent tier, below Summit’s Monocle XL and BiFocal XL in the Kimber ladder. It is often the right answer for full-range floor-standing loudspeakers where the character of the woven cable — dynamic authority, tonal density, a very natural presentation — is what the system wants.
