Product Details
The Progression M550 Monoblock is the flagship of the Progression line — monoblock power amplification in the machined-aluminum Progression chassis, one chassis per channel, with copper accent details carrying the house design language. Where Momentum brings the program's Class-A construction and Relentless sits beyond price entirely, Progression is what a serious reference system is built from at Progression scale.
The M550's position in the catalogue is worth stating plainly: it is the most amplifier the Progression line offers, and the point at which D'Agostino monoblock separates become attainable without stepping into Momentum pricing. The engineering discipline and the industrial design are the same house; the line divides by scale, not by seriousness.
The right way to evaluate it is against its own family. A step up sits the Momentum S250 MxV and M400 MxV; within the line sit the S350 stereo amplifier and the Progression Preamplifier built to partner it. Which configuration a system justifies depends on the loudspeaker's demands and the room — not on brochure hierarchy.
Progression electronics are on the demonstration floor in Tempe, where the line's preamplifier and integrated drive Wilson TuneTot — the deliberate proof that these are not entry-level electronics wearing a serious badge. An M550 audition is arranged around your loudspeaker: tell us what it will drive, and we will build the comparison that answers the question, including the honest one against the Momentum tier above it.
