Ascendo The8 PRO Three-Way LED Wedge Loudspeaker

The8 PRO exists because of a change in how cinemas are being built. LED video walls are replacing projection screens, and unlike an acoustically transparent screen an LED wall is solid — nothing can go behind it. Meanwhile the walls are getting thinner, screens are running closer to edge-to-edge, and the space above and below the picture keeps shrinking. Something has to fit in what is left.

The answer is a three-way passive design in a shallow, deliberately low enclosure. A central 8-inch coaxial point source handles mids and highs through the multi-entry waveguide first seen on The Halo 10, flanked by a horizontal D'Appolito pair of 8-inch woofers covering roughly 75 to 250 Hz. Because the mids and highs share one waveguide, the loudspeaker behaves as a genuine point source — a pan reads as continuous motion rather than a handoff between drivers, on axis and off it.

The cabinet carries a fixed 12-degree wedge, so mounted above the screen it fires down into the seats and mounted below it fires up, rather than energising the ceiling and the floor. Coverage is 100 degrees horizontal by 60 vertical, good for about three rows and fifteen metres of depth. Mounting above and below also creates a stable phantom centre in the rooms where a physical centre channel simply has nowhere to go.
