Ascendo The10 Coaxial Cinema Loudspeaker

The10 is the compact two-way that does most of the work in a living-room cinema. A 10-inch coaxial driver with a one-inch exit high frequency section produces 120 dB continuously from an enclosure 145 millimetres deep, at 97 dB efficiency — which again is the Ascendo pattern of getting cinema levels without demanding a cinema amplifier. Paired with a subwoofer it behaves like a considerably larger system.

The Wedge 30 is the same loudspeaker pre-angled by thirty degrees, and it exists because a great many positions in an immersive layout require the loudspeaker to be aimed rather than mounted flat. Front wide, Atmos and DTS top front and rear, high surrounds, side surrounds — the thirty-degree angle matches what current CEDIA, Dolby and DTS specifications ask for, so the installer is not improvising with brackets.

The point of that is localisation. Angling the loudspeaker properly means the main seat gets the intended image, and the seats either side of it do not suffer the collapse toward the nearest loudspeaker that ordinarily punishes anyone not sitting in the middle. The driver's wide axisymmetric radiation is doing the same job from the other direction.
