Product Details
The6 PRO sits above the standard The6 and replaces the CCRM6-P before it, and the changes are specific rather than cosmetic. Sensitivity is up by more than a decibel. The midrange, already good with a paper pulp mix, moved to a graphene carbon non-woven material. The signal path carries silver capacitors and large air core inductors.
The detail worth knowing is the switchable filters. They linearise the loudspeaker further, and they can be turned off — which matters if the room is being calibrated by Trinnov Optimizer or Dirac Live, because two correction systems working on the same problem fight each other. Ascendo built the option in rather than assuming which way an integrator would go.
The ceiling version is a different loudspeaker, not the same one rotated. It uses a coax with a neodymium motor, a 1.1-inch soft dome tweeter and a mid-woofer of highly damped sandwich carbon fibre with a foam core and rubber surround, in a shallow enclosure for ceilings where depth is the binding constraint. Its off-axis high frequency response is markedly better than the category norm, which is the specification that actually counts on a driver nobody is pointed at.
PRO
Passive — on-wall or in-ceiling
Graphene carbon non-woven, replacing the paper pulp mix of the standard model
Silver capacitors and large air core inductors, with switchable linearising filters
Neodymium motor coax, 1.1-inch soft dome tweeter, sandwich carbon fibre mid-woofer
PRO
On-wall and in-ceiling, each a distinct model
Above The6 PASSIVE; replaces the previous CCRM6-P
Raised by more than 1 dB over the model it replaces
Graphene carbon non-woven material
Silver capacitors and large-size air core inductors in the signal path
Further linearise the loudspeaker, and can be disabled when using auto calibration such as Trinnov Optimizer or Dirac Live
Coax with neodymium motor, 1.1-inch soft dome tweeter, mid-woofer in highly damped sandwich carbon fibre with foam core and rubber surround
Shallow, for positions where depth is the constraint
Internal resonance minimised through cabinet design and damping materials
Designed and built in Heilsbronn, Germany
